Before beginning addiction treatment with Triora, you must first be sober. We can provide outpatient detox treatment or medical observation for less serious cases at our private treatment centres in Alicante and Malaga, Spain. Triora’s experienced medical and nursing staff provide professional detoxing care and support, 24/7.
Do I need to detox?
If you have been taking alcohol or drugs for any length of time, it can be dangerous to suddenly stop. It may be necessary to first follow a drug or alcohol detox treatment during which your body is given the chance to eliminate toxins without endangering your health. Our professional medical staff can advise you whether detox treatment is necessary, and together with you establish which programme is best for you.
What does detox involve?
Medically managed withdrawal, detoxing or “kicking the habit” not only involves withdrawing from taking addictive substances and ridding your body of toxins. It also involves withdrawing from damaging patterns of behaviour such as irregular sleep, disturbed thought patterns or a distorted perception of norms and values, as well as isolation - whether voluntary or involuntary.
Four detox options
1. Detox at home – always preferable, for less serious cases.
2. Detox in a clinic in your own country – in more severe cases or where there are medical risks.
3. Detox in a clinic in Alicante (not Triora) – while this can be arranged, it is not, however, the first choice.
4. Medical observation at the Triora clinic – for less severe cases.
Can I detox from home with Triora?
Our private clinics in Spain offer outpatient detox treatment via phone or secure videoconferencing on our online portal for less severe cases and where medically advisable only. Our outpatient detox treatment is short and intensive, with guidance and under medical supervision. If necessary, outpatient detox treatment is supported by urine tests and medication to relieve drug or alcohol withdrawal symptoms.
While detox from home is always preferred where appropriate, outpatient detox treatment is not suitable for everyone. It requires a high degree of personal responsibility and the ability to resist the temptations and triggers in your environment. It is only possible to follow Triora’s outpatient detox treatment if you are living or staying in Spain, and when the severity of the addiction does not require admission.
The benefits of following detox at home:
- Psychological support as and when needed
- Medical support as needed
- 24-hour support from medical and nursing staff
After completion of an outpatient detox treatment, you can either go on to follow our outpatient rehabilitation, or be immediately admitted to one of our clinics for inpatient addiction treatment.
Can I detox at a Triora clinic?
If it is not possible or advisable for you to become sober on your own, you may be able to follow medical observation at our private rehabilitation centres in Alicante or Malaga before starting with our addiction treatment. We provide 24/7 medical supervision. Our medical professionals will help determine the most appropriate treatment in consultation with you. If you follow medical observation at a Triora clinic, this will extend the standard 8-week programme.
