The Triora Model is a unique, holistic addiction treatment developed by Triora in the Netherlands (formerly Mirage), comprising eight elements (see infographic below). We enhance medically established methods in addiction care such as cognitive behaviour therapy and psychiatric treatment, with our own innovative approach to addiction recovery. Our approach involves treating body, mind and soul. Read on to find out more about the Triora Model’s components, what programme participants learn and the practical steps to recovery.
Cognitive behavioural therapy - the Triora Model uses scientifically researched and evidence-based therapy programmes such as the following cognitive-behaviour addiction modules: rational emotive therapy, social skills training, and relapse prevention. We also devote attention to the principles of self-help.
Medical treatment and supervision - immediately on arrival at our private rehabilitation clinic in Alicante, Spain, patients are examined by one of our physicians to determine which medical care is necessary. Detox treatment is available (see below). Patients should remain abstinent during the 28-day treatment.
Psychological and psychiatric support - in the first phase of treatment, patients have sessions with both a psychiatrist and a psychologist. This is to determine if there are any mental health problems in addition to the addiction. If necessary, patients can follow additional treatment and counselling sessions.
Social reintegration – returning to life can be challenging and we help patients to do this with our aftercare, and by introducing them to a support community for life.
Physical recovery - we offer personal sport and exercise programmes ranging from daily walks, to pilates, yoga, cardio/gym and physiotherapy, with or without a personal trainer. We also have our own chef onsite, providing freshly made meals for a healthy lifestyle.
12 steps – patients also learn about the 12 steps, a widely used approach in addiction recovery from alcohol abuse, drug abuse and other addictive behaviours.
Spirituality – Triora considers that addressing spirituality – finding a deeper sense of purpose and meaning in life, connection with oneself, loved ones and others – is key to enabling people to undergo their own transformation in overcoming and managing addiction. Coaching sessions are provided with our spiritual coach.
Family therapy – we strongly believe in working together with patients, and where needed, loved ones. We also offer partnership and family counselling as an integral part of our treatment.
